Lego Game-based Learning and Improving STEM Education among Children

Three Danish postgraduate students from Aalborg University (www.aau.dk) completing a master program in ICT, Learning & Organizational Change

are scheduled to interview Asst. Prof. Dr. Poonsri Vate-U-Lan, an AU scholar & expert in this field. These three master thesis students working collaboratively on how the FIRST® LEGO® League could be implemented in primary schools using gamed-based- learning to foster interest in STEM activities in children in Thai and Danish schools. The FIRST® LEGO® League is the most accessible, guided, global robotics competition, helping students and teachers to build a better future together.

The program is built around theme-based “Challenges” to engage children aged 9 to 16 in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. These Danish students working collaboratively with the Danish company, LEGO® Education (part of LEGO® Group), and the Thai company, Gammaco, aim to develop a learning platform that could be used for further science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. The platform consists of activities regarding the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Keenly aware of Asst. Prof. Dr. Poonsri Vate-U-Lan’s published and profile research in the field, they requested the AU President, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran’s approval to interview Dr. Vate-U-Lan to further support their research in improving knowledge and education in such field.
